OUR STORY

The Partners In Mission Nicaragua Fund was created in 2006 by Patrick Duffy, Jr., with the assistance of former classmate, Tim Reis, friends and family members in memory of his father, Patrick Duffy Sr. In his lifetime Patrick Duffy Sr. was a man of honesty and integrity who taught his children to "keep the faith" and “to trust in the Providence of God”.  (Click here if you would like to donate by using our pledge card!)

Through the creation of the Partners In Mission Nicaragua Fund, Patrick Duffy, Jr. and the Charles de Foucauld families in Nicaragua will be enabled to promote his mission and spirituality for generations to come.

The long term goal of the Partners In Mission Nicaragua Fund is create, in the best of the Catholic Tradition, a lasting partnership in Mission between faith filled Christians of the United States and the people of Nicaragua.

OUR VISION

Through an inter exchange of sharing faith and financial support the Partners In Mission Nicaragua Fund will improve the lives of the poor and enrich the faith life of many Nicaraguan people and those who support this Fund.

HOW WE WORK

The PARTNERS IN MISSION NICARAGUA FUND is a Donor Advised Fund of the National Catholic Community Foundation. A Donor Advised Fund is a charitable giving vehicle set up under the tax umbrella of a public charity. The National Catholic Community Foundation is incorporated in the State of Maryland and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization.

OUR ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

Partners In Mission Nicaragua counts on two Mission partner groups and Patrick Duffy, Jr., a Charles de Foucauld Lay Missionary currently living and working in Nicaragua. The two groups are referred to as The Partners in Mission Nicaragua Advisory Group (PIMNAG) from Cincinnati, Ohio and The Charles de Foucauld Lay Mission Association Oversight Team (CFLMAOT) in Managua, Nicaragua. All funds destined for Nicaragua are supervised by Patrick Duffy, Jr., the Cincinnati and Managua oversight groups.

This simple organizational structure allows separate like-minded groups to participate in, oversee and collaborate with pastoral and financial activities for Missionary work in Nicaragua.

The Cincinnati and Managua groups, in essence, have the role of a board of directors, but without incurring all the costs, extra-time and extra paper work; thus creating a professional, ethical, lay-run organization that empowers direct action and focus on Mission. This eliminates the excessive bureaucracy and red tape that often divides time, money and energy from doing the more important things, primarily being with the people and doing Mission on the ground.

TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY

The groups serve on a volunteer basis to provide transparency of operations and usage of funds. This includes providing financial statements to interested parties, assisting in communications between donors and lay ministers, and providing advisory services related to fund collections and disbursements.

The PIMN Advisory group in Cincinnati is charged with fundraising activities in the USA for the PIMN FUND including but not limited to major events, direct mailings and parish fund drives.

The CFLMA Oversight Team in Managua serves as an accountability group that operates on a day to day basis overseeing and verifying the accuracy of all financial reporting. This team also offers consultation and recommendations in relation to where funds are most needed and timing of disbursements.

THE FUND ADVISOR

Patrick T. Duffy, Jr. is the Fund Advisor of the Partners In Mission Nicaragua Fund, as such; his role is to request grant distributions for Nicaragua from the National Catholic Community Foundation (NCCF) in Annapolis, MD, USA, complete all yearly financial and program reporting and serve as a liaison between the USA and Nicaragua.

The National Catholic Community Foundation retains the final approval of all grant requests, so as to guarantee the mission and integrity of their Foundation.
